The Marine Corps Marathon Organization (MCMO) has unveiled the 2022 event schedule.
The provisional schedule offers multiple events of various distances for all levels and ages from February through November. At this time, with the exception of the Vietnam 196.7 Miler, all of the events will run live and in-person.
The Newbie
Vietnam 196.7 Miler
The year will kick off with the previously announced Vietnam 196.7 Miler. This new virtual event challenges participants to take on the distance solo or as a team from February 1 to March 18. An interactive tracking map will provide runners historical facts about the Vietnam War as they complete sections of the mileage. More information about the event can be found here. Registration is still open.
Celebrating Anniversaries
Marine Corps 17.75KThe schedule continues with several events celebrating anniversary milestones, such as the 10th Marine Corps 17.75K on March 26. Those who successfully complete the 17.75K will once again gain Access Granted into the 47th Marine Corps Marathon (MCM) running on October 30, 2022.
Marine Corps Historic Half
This year will also celebrate the 15th Marine Corps Historic Half (MCHH). The MCHH will be returning to Fredericksburg, VA for the first time in two years. It will also mark the first time the half marathon and Devil Dog Double will be running live since 2019. Registration is currently open for all three Historic Half Weekend events.
Returning Challenges
Distinguished Participant
The Distinguished Participant medal is earned for a year of running with the Marines. Distinguished status is open to runners of all ages and ability levels and is the perfect opportunity for motivated individuals to participate in the MCM Event Series hosted on Marine Corps Base Quantico.
Ambitious runners who seek to earn this coveted title and exclusive medal in 2022 must register for live and in-person events from all four tiers. Only one live event from a tier may count as a qualifier.
- Tier One: Historic Half events (13.1, Semper 5ive or Devil Dog Double)
- Tier Two: Belleau Wood 8K or Crossroads Trail 15K
- Tier Three: Quantico 12K
- Tier Four: Turkey Trot 10K
Semper Fidelis Challenge
Returning for the third year is the Semper Fidelis Challenge. The two-event challenge includes either the Historic Half or the Devil Dog Double in May 2022 and the MCM or the MCM50K in October 2022. Runners must finish both live events to earn the special medal.
