Forget your standard running event. Run Amuck, the MCM’s mega messy running challenge to be held on June 4 aboard Marine Corps Base Quantico, has unveiled a new four-mile course featuring 28 obstacles and three mud pits. When you hear obstacle course, don’t be confused by memories of games at summer camp. Run Amuck tests both mental and physical strengths and elevates the inner machismo.
The start returns to historic Butler Stadium leading participants through multiple obstacles on and around the football field before journeying into the trails and up the hills where runners can…Foil the A-frames. Crash the Lo-Crawl Tubes. Clobber the Ammo Can Relay. Humble the Hay Bale Jump. Conquer the Cargo Net. Bound the Balance Logs. Scale the Stadium Steps. All while covered from head to toe in goopy, mucky mud from three sloshy mud pits.
Runners can register for any of the eight color-coded waves with the first starting at 7 a.m. and the last at 10:30 a.m. An abridged two mile Mini Run Amuck course is also available for those seeking all-the adventure crammed into a shorter distance. So tell your mudder, you are going to Run Amuck with the Marines this spring.
