After 30,000 runners trampled down the doors of the Marine Corps Marathon during March, individuals who are motivated to run with the Marines, but at a shorter distance, are getting ready for their registrations to open on Wednesday, April 11. That’s when sign ups begin for TWO favored MCM Weekend events – the MCM10K and the MCM Kids Run presented by Virginia529.
Starting on Wednesday, April 11 at noon Eastern, runners can register for either event.
MCM10K
Event date: Sunday, October 28
Cost: $50 and open to runners ages eight and above. Fee increases to $65 in July.
Intel: Sells out every year. Grab a spot early. 6.2 mile course that starts on the National Mall and finishes in stride with the MCM at the iconic U.S. Marine Corps War Memorial
Perks: Access to the two-day Health & Fitness Expo, premier participant shirt, stunning finisher medal, event program and entertainment along the course.
MCM Kids Run presented by Virginia529
Event date: Saturday, October 27
Cost: $10 (scratch that–only $6 thanks to the Next Generation Inspiration Initiative). As part of the Next Generation Inspiration Initiative, runners ages 17 and under on event day will receive a 40 percent discount off registration.
Intel: Family-friendly event for kids ages 5 to 12. One-mile fun run located in the Pentagon North Parking lot in Arlington, VA. More than 3,500 kids run a one-mile course with nine different starting times
Perks: Mascots, music, family fun festival called “Camp Miles” and high fives from the Marines. All participants will receive a finisher medal, participant shirt and a variety of healthy snacks from Sodexo.
Who doesn’t love a field trip? Turn the MCM Kids Run into a school-wide initiative by registering as a group. Best of all, the top five schools bringing the largest number of students to the MCM Kids Run will be presented the Healthy School Award, a monetary prize given to the physical education departments of the top schools by MCM partner, Sodexo.
