Former Event Champions Return to Glory at 17th Marine Corps Historic Half
Over 3,720 runners completed the Greatest Half in History

The cloudy skies provided ideal weather for over 3,700 runners who took to the historic streets of Fredericksburg and conquered Hospital Hill as part of the Marine Corps Historic Half on Sunday, May 19. The half marathon celebrated 3,729 finishers from 46 states, the District of Columbia and 14 countries.

MCMO Announces Traffic Advisory for Marine Corps Historic Half Weekend
Events will run on Sunday, May 19

The Marine Corps Marathon Organization (MCMO) reminds the public that the Marine Corps Historic Half will be running live and in-person on Sunday, May 19 throughout Fredericksburg, Virginia, causing some road closures and delays. Over 4,300 runners will begin running the half marathon (13.1 miles) at 6:00 a.m., with the last participant estimated to finish around 10:00 a.m. Significant delays should be expected between 3:00 a.m. and 11:00 a.m. on event day.

Access to Historic Half Weekend events from May 18-19 available now

Media may now submit requests to cover Marine Corps Historic Half Weekend events, which will be held from Saturday, May 18 through Sunday, May 19, 2024. Media can request credentials by completing the 2024 Historic Half Media Credential Request Form. All media must be credentialed to cover any occurrence during event weekend. Marine Corps 17.75K Crowns New Champion  
For the third year in a row, the top two Marine Corps 17.75K finishers were once again Jonathan Ladson, age 32, from Woodbridge, Va. and Alex Trouteaud, age 44, from Barnesville, Md., with Ladson finally overtaking Trouteaud on Saturday, March 23 at Prince William Forest Park in Dumfries, Va.  In 2022 and 2023, Trouteaud outlasted Ladson down the stretch to cross the finish line first. With a time of 1:06:26, Ladson blazed to the win besting Trouteaud’s time of 1:07:55.

The Marine Corps Marathon Organization (MCMO) reminds the public that the Marine Corps 17.75K will be running live and in-person on Saturday, March 23 at Prince William Forest Park, causing some road closures and delays. Over 2,000 runners will begin running the 11.03 mile course at 7:00 a.m., with the last participant estimated to finish around 11:00 a.m. Significant delays should be expected between 4:30 a.m. and 12 p.m. on event day.

Access Granted into 50th MCM Offered for all 2024 Marine Corps 17.75K Finishers
Participants will be able to register for the 2024 MCM and 2025 MCM

Runners who complete the 12th Marine Corps 17.75K will now be offered guaranteed entry into the 50th Marine Corps Marathon (MCM), running in 2025, in addition to also receiving Access Granted into this year’s 49th MCM running on October 27, 2024.

Jonathan Ladson of Woodbridge, Va., age 32, defended his championship as the Turkey Trot overall winner on Saturday, November 18. He finished first of 923 runners in this morning’s Turkey Trot 10K, presented by Dick’s Sporting Goods and Tour Stafford, Va., aboard Marine Corps Base Quantico, one final calorie-burning event before Thanksgiving.

The Marine Corps Marathon Organization (MCMO) announced a new virtual event for 2024 today. The virtual Hometown Challenge: Sergeants Major of the Marine Corps (SMMC) will take runners on a 10,523.6 scaled mile journey highlighting each Sergeant Major of the Marine Corps’ birthplace. Each mile run translates to three miles on the virtual map. Running Teams are challenged to complete the total mileage between January 1, 2024, to November 10, 2024, logging in the incremental distances.

NEW ARMED FORCES SERIES CHALLENGE SET TO BEGIN IN 2024

The Air Force Marathon, in conjunction with four other service-level armed forces road races, announced the creation of the Armed Forces Series Challenge at the marathon’s Finish Line Festival on Sept. 16.

The challenge involves completing the Air Force Marathon, Army Ten-Miler, Coast Guard Marathon, Marine Corps Marathon and Space Force T-Minus 10 Miler, which are held from April to December each year.

Defending Champion Races to Another Victory at Quantico 12K
Over 600 Finishers completed the 7.46 mile event

Woodbridge, Va. resident, Jonathan Ladson, 32 years old, defended his title as the Quantico 12K overall winner with a scorching time of 43:11 this morning aboard Marine Corps Base Quantico on the grounds of the Officer Candidate School. Ladson was the first of 630 runners who rose to the challenge and completed the 7.46 mile event.

2022 Devil Dog Double Champion Defends Title By Shattering Course Record
The Devil Dog Double is part of the Marine Corps Historic Half Events

Jonathan Ladson, age 31, from Dale City, Va. was the first to cross the finish line of the Devil Dog Double with a new course record of 1:41:22. “My goal for today was to come back and defend my title,” said Ladson. “I felt really good and came through the 13.1 way ahead of the course record so I wanted to push harder.” The previous record was 1:43:56 set in 2019 by Matt O’Neil.

MCMO to Debut New Virtual Vietnam 196.7 Miler in 2022

The Marine Corps Marathon Organization (MCMO) announced today the Vietnam 196.7 Miler, a new virtual event to run from February 1 to March 18, 2022. Runners ages 10 and up will have the choice to tackle the distance solo or as part of a team.

The distance of 196.7 miles was specifically chosen to highlight the year of Operation Prairie II, the military operation commanded by Brigadier General Michael P. Ryan. Eight years later as a Major General, Ryan would co-found the Marine Corps Marathon (MCM), along with Colonel James L. Fowler, to promote the United States Marine Corps and serve as a recruitment tool.

More than 13,000 runners from all 50 states and the District of Columbia are now set to run live during Marine Corps Marathon (MCM) Weekend. The reduced number of participants is part of the COVID-19 precautions taken by the Marine Corps Marathon Organization (MCMO) to safely execute a live event for runners in 2021. On Saturday, August 21, 2021, the Quantico 12K presented by Pohanka hosted 298 runners on a journey through the grounds of the Officer Candidate School (OCS) aboard Marine Corps Base Quantico. The 7.46-mile run offered unique access to the training area for future Marines. Matthew Rouse, 35, from Quantico, VA, met the challenge earning the title top finisher in 44:27.

Two Races on the same Day – The Innaugural Crossroads Trail 15K and the Belleau Wood 8K

376 runners listened to their inner Devil Dog and ran and conqured the hills of Quantico. It was a challenging run aboard Marine Corps Base Quantico for 374 finishers in the Crossroads Trail 15K and the Belleau Wood 8K on Saturday, June 19, 2021. Israel Diaz, from Springfield, VA, met the challenge earning the title of top finisher in 34:24. Spencer Elmore, 31, from Waldorf MD earned the top finisher title for the Crossroads Trail 15K at 1:05:46.

Live 2021 Marine Corps Marathon Weekend Announced

New Course, New Record Set for Live Semper 5ive Event

More than 300 runners from 18 states attended the live Semper 5ive on Saturday, May 15 aboard Marine Corps Base Quantico. An additional 4,446 runners across the United States and 22 countries completed the virtual Semper 5ive, as well as the sold out Marine Corps Historic Half and Devil Dog Double events between April 24 and May 16.

13-Year-Old Earns Top Finisher for New Quantico Crucible

Only those who make it through this challenge are handed their Eagle, Globe and Anchors, symbolizing the completion of the grueling journey to earn the coveted title of U.S. Marine.
