Runners training for the 2021 Historic Half or MCM Weekend events can now be rewarded as they move from Mission Preparedness to Mission Execution.
The Marine Corps Marathon Organization is introducing the new Mission Ready: Historic Half and Mission Ready: MCM events. The virtual interactive events span the six weeks prior to both events and offer three tiers of registration options based on accumulated training miles for runners to complete before their Historic Half or MCM event.
Each tier is associated with the number of training miles the runner commits to completing as he/she prepares for the half or full marathon. Tiers include Bronze at $25, Silver at $30 and Gold at $35.
Program Dates and Tiers
Mission Ready: Historic Half
Date: March 21 – May 1
Bronze: 60 miles
Silver: 80 miles
Gold: 100 miles
Mission Ready: MCM
Date: August 29 – October 8
Bronze: 70 miles
Silver: 100 miles
Gold: 130 miles
Runners will accumulate and log training miles as they complete them on the way to the ambitious total. An interactive map will track the runner’s progress. After logging all required miles, participants will receive recognition pieces according to their registered tier:
- Bronze will receive a uniquely designed dog tag-shaped coin
- Silver will receive dog tag coin and silver lapel pin
- Gold will receive dog tag coin, silver and gold lapel pins.
The dog tag and pins may be affixed to the finisher medal for the Historic Half and/or the MCM to demonstrate the decorated runner’s mission preparation and then mission accomplishment.
Registration for both Mission Ready events will open in Spring 2021.
